Our Mission
Bring life and use to the waterfront and bring the sport of rowing to Louisville/Southern Indiana. Create a safe, fun, and competitive environment where high school athletes have the opportunity to learn rowing, meet new friends, and grow to their full potential.
Our Vision
In the future, we plan to grow the club to the point of having 5 squads: Varsity Women, Varsity Men, Novice Women, Novice Men, and Middle School Rec Team. Send boats to youth nationals as well as athletes to collegiate rowing programs. Doing so with poise and sportsmanship. This vision begins now as it takes each and every one of our athletes, coaches, and guardians to grow our program.
Words our Team lives by
Our TIGER Model involves aspects of sportsmanship that both coaches and athletes of LRC strive for at every practice and race.
Togetherness: Working together with respect for our teammates and coaches. This is exemplified by understanding the boat is working as one rather than a collection of people working independently. Coaches will strive to work together as a unit providing a clear expectation of the athletes. As a team we strive to exemplify patience, respect, and teamwork to reach our goals together.
Intent: Creating a standard for intent throughout every portion of practice and racing. Athletes will learn to apply purpose from warm up to cool down, every piece of practice is important to achieving success in racing. Learning to apply themselves to the things that don’t take talent. With athletes appreciating that each minute of practice is important, coaches will provide intent with all aspects of planning and coaching.
Growth: We strive for growth as a team, athletes, coaches, and people. The team provides a safe space to take risks, learn more about ourselves, work hard, and inevitably grow. As athletes and coaches, we approach each practice as an opportunity to grow ourselves.
Every Seat Matters: This is a statement encompassing our philosophy. It takes every person on our team, every rower, coxswain, coach, and parent to be successful. No seat matters any more or any less, and when it comes to race day we have all played a part in the success of each boat and each seat.
Resilience: There are far more practices than races in our sport. There are tough workouts and tough days when life outside of rowing requires a bit of extra resilience. We learn to work together and exemplify resilience by working together, working with intent, striving for growth, and knowing that every seat matters.
